We take quality seriously, do you?

Solibri is the global leader in quality assurance and quality control for Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, and has customers in 70 countries worldwide, include building owners, contractors, construction companies, architects, and engineering businesses.

Plagued by poor, out-dated, or non-existent quality practices, the construction industry wastes the equivalent of billions of euros every year. Despite the increasing pressure to deliver environmentally friendly and sustainable projects, many of the processes used today result in components and materials not being fitfor- purpose when delivered to a site. The resulting ‘waste’ is then dumped in landfills – hardly very environmental or cost-efficient!

Getting a design right has a huge impact on the entire construction process. One of the main ways of doing this today is through the virtual 3D models generated by Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) software. While these enable architects and engineers to explore designs for potential problems, they are not full-proof.

Which is where Solibri can help – with solutions for validating data integrity, ensuring that standards and regulations are adhered to, coordinating design work, and specifying the correct quantities of materials needed on a site.

Solibri’s mission is to make the entire design, review, and construction process more productive, cost-effective, and consistent. The unique, rule-based analysis engine built into Solibri Model Checker (SMC) provides a fast and efficient means of diagnosing and reporting actual and potential quality issues.

Check and check again

SMC goes far beyond simply being a design clash detection tool and far beyond simply being the first step on the road to better Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC). SMC’s rulebased system can check a model for a very wide range of conditions, including identifying elements, such as load-bearing walls, that might be missing from a design; highlighting rooms that do not meet accessibility requirements; and flagging situations where an insufficient number or type of escape routes have been provided under the relevant local regulations.

SMC has also been designed to incorporate feedback from on-site experience to further reduce the risk of designs coming unstuck during construction.

As a result, SMC has succeeded in helping customers make savings running into millions of euros on just a single project, by eliminating errors in the virtual world that would have required major on-site rework in the real world.

As part of its commitment to remaining the world leader in model-based quality assurance and quality control in the construction field, Solibri is also committed to giving users the flexibility to create their own QA/QC processes.

SMC enables users to define the QA/QC workflow that works for them and produce informative reports that they can share with their project partners. The powerful collaboration and communications capabilities built into the software give partners the opportunity to make their own contribution to resolving problems.

And that’s what win-win solutions should be all about.
